DEALING WITH PEOPLE FROM COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES FORT MYERS FLORIDA

DEALING WITH PEOPLE

Dealing with people is never easy and in a service business the challenge can sometimes be even greater than in other businesses.  After all, what we sell in pest control cannot be "returned" if it doesn't meet the customer's expectations.

It is especially important to learn to deal with the various kinds of customers you may encounter.  Pest control customers may fall into one of several "tator" categories.  Here are the descriptions of these categories and some hints in dealing with the different personality types.

THE HESI-TATORS  These customers adopt a "wait and see" approach when dealing with insects problems.  By the time they finally call us, the problem has escalated and so has the "hesi-tator's intolerance of it.

Deal with these types calmly by performing our service, then, and this is most important, explaining that they should call before the insect problems reach the level they were when you arrived.  Encourage the "hesti-tator" not to wait before calling us next time they see evidence of an insect problem.

THE SPEC-TORS  This type of customer watch the professional pest control technician do the pest control work, but ignore suggestions to incorporate insect prevention and sanitation tactics.

Enlisting customer cooperation is a topic that many professional pest control technicians avoid because it sometimes means a confrontation with customers.  Stress the partnership approach to pest control.  Let them know that you cannot control pests completely without help from the customer.  Give specific suggestions of things they should do, like repair screens, fill cracks, clean certain areas, etc.

THE AGI-TATOR  The "agi-tator" expects your first treatment to rid the premises of all insects and to keep insects out for years to come.  They call us every time they see an insect but refuse to sign up for further services.

The problem with the "agi-tator" is that they don't have a realistic expectation of what we can and cannot do.  Be clear with them up front about what our service does and does not include and what they can expect after it is completed.

THE IMI-TATOR  "Imi-tators" watch you do your service, then buys a do-it yourself product and tries to treat by himself the next time there is an insect problem.

If your customer asks questions about the service as if to let you believe he would probably do it himself next time, and says this is a onetime service only, you may be dealing with an "imi-tator".  Pay extra attention to the selling process here.  Point out the benefits of our service and the disadvantages of the do-it-yourself products.

THE FACILI-TATOR  All professional pest control technicians should hope that most of their customers are "facili-tators", who take steps to prepare for their service.

At Collier Pest Control we treat each customer as if they where the only customer we have that day!  We also try to perform each service better than the ones we've performed before.  We also do our best to add something extra to each customer's service to exceed their expectations and WOW them!
