Collier Pest Control, Southwest Florida's Pest Authority, is committed to a safe and healthy workplace and recognized that drug and alcohol abuse leads to decreased morale, decreased productivity, high turnover of employees, and an increased risk of accidents.  The standard for a DRUG FREE WORKPLACE is to create for all employees conditions of employment to refrain from using illegal drugs on or off the job.

America pays a high price for alcohol and drug abuse.  Some costs include: increased absences, accidents and errors, low employee morale, and higher illness rates, employees that engage in illicit drug use or abuse of alcohol were also more likely to have missed more work due to illness.  Employers encourage Drug Free Workplaces because they view alcohol and drugs use as causing an impairment of otherwise capable employees.

The impact of employee substance use and abuse is a problem that extends beyond the substance using employee.  There is evidence that co-worker job performance and attitudes are negatively affected.  Workers have reported being put in danger, having been injured, or having had to work harder, to re-do work, or to cover for a co-worker as a result of a fellow employee's drinking or drug use.

The management of Collier Pest Control wants to create a working environment that is free of alcohol and illegal drug use.  We also want to enforce a work force that does not support even the casual use of illegal drugs for any use outside the work place.  Collier Pest Control knows the usage of these drugs in the body will still be in effect when the employee returns to work and will impair their skills and judgment.

            Collier Pest Control will test employees upon reasonable suspicion, employees that have been involved in an accident while at work, and occasional testing of employees chosen at random,. Any drug test applicant fails to pass the pre-employment drug test will be subject for termination or ineligible for hire.
