ORIENTAL GARDEN LIZARD
The Oriental Garden Lizard is widely distributed from Iran to Indo-China and is the most widespread species of this genus of Asian agamid, It has also been introduced to Florida. It is often found in human altered habitats, even gardens in urban areas of Asia. Adults have long slender tails, large heads, massive shoulders, expandable dewlaps, laterally flattened bodies with a crest extending from the neck to the tail, and may reach a length of 17 inches above each tympanum. They eat insects and the males get a bright red throat in the breeding season leading to a common incorrect name of Bloodsucker.
