These very small ants are found here in Southwest Florida in large numbers.  Swarmer Rover Ants are often found indoors or in swimming pools resulting in that the homeowner spending time removing them prior to using the pool.  Swarms occur in the evening and are attracted to light.   These ants may be seen excitedly running up and down vertical objects in yards, such as blades of grass, chairs, and fence posts.  These ants also can be seen under stones in the soil and in rotting wood.

These yellow to black tiny ants primarily nest in the soil but will also be found in moist or rotting wood. They are identified with their uneven thorax, 9 segmented clubless antenna, and hidden node.  Infestations of these ants are most likely to occur with a source of excessive moisture and fungal decay.  Bathrooms and kitchens seem to be attractive site particularly where past water leaks have occurred.
