Why We Recommend

The Exterra Inground Termite Baiting System

Collier Pest Control has always dedicated itself to provide you the most advance pest control service available.  This includes our Termite services also.

Collier Pest Control recommends and provides The Exterra Inground Termite Baiting System for Subterranean Termite control.  We have been an Exterra representative since 2000 with hundreds of successful Exterra installations controlling termites all over southwest Florida.

The Exterra Inground Termite Baiting System was designed by pest control operators to overcome all the problems associated with other competitive systems.  The Exterra Inground System is 8 times bigger than all other competitive termite baiting systems.  It is designed not to disrupt termite activity when being inspected or adding bait to the station, like other competitive systems do.  When termites are disturbing the look else ware for food, like your home.  The Exterra Inground System has more attracting wood in the station than other systems do.  The Exterra System has the ability to hold 410 grams of active termite controlling bait, that's 6 times more bait than any other termite system available.  At Collier Pest Control we place The Exterra Inground Termite Baiting System stations every ten foot apart.  That is 3 times closer that other systems.

Collier Pest Control offers more benefits than other pest control termite companies including:

?        Monitoring The Exterra Inground Termite Baiting System station every 60 days when there is no termite activity and when termites are seen within the Exterra Station, we monitor the Stations every 30 days until the termite activity has been controlled.

?        We also maintain and replace any stations that need repaired or damaged.

?        We offer you written monthly reports of all the inspected Exterra Baiting Station.

?        Collier Pest Control offers economic yearly renews to maintain this valuable protection for your home.

?        Collier Pest Control offers a $500,000 damage warranty against any termite damage due to our negligence.

TERMITE INSPECTIONS ANNUALLY COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A YEARLY

FREE TERMITE INSPECTION

HERE'S WHY!

?         ONE IN THREE HOMES THAT SHOW NO SIGNS OF TERMITES HAVE                  ACTIVITY WITHIN TWO FEET OF THE FOUNDATION!

?         TWO OF THREE HOMES BUILT SINCE 1987 WILL HAVE A TERMITE                   INFESTATION WITHIN FIVE YEARS

?         IN MULTIPLE BUILDING SITUATIONS, EVERY BUILDING WAS BUILT THE SAME, USING THE SAME TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS.  WHEN TERMITE PROTECTION FAILS IN ONE BUILDING, IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE REST WILLFAIL ALSO.

How can you tell if you have a termite problem?    It is very difficult.  Termites, by their very nature, remain hidden.  They avoid open areas and remain buried deep in the wood that they are eating.  Often, they are noticed only AFTER damage has been done to the structure.

An important point to remember is that subterranean termites work slowly. There are many, many variables when considering how fast or slow a termite's colony will damage a home.  Size of the colony, temperature, moisture, time of year, etc all affect the speed of damage.  A small colony can typically eat six inches of a 2X4 in one year.

If you have regular routine yearly termite inspections of your home or business, you can find out if you have a termite problem or not.  Since they eat very slowly, even if they have entered your home or business you can correct the problem before they cause an extensive costly amount of damage.

Collier Pest Control now offers a diagnostic tool to help answer the question, "Do we have a termite problem?" We will install at NO CHARGE, to any of our regular Collier Complete General Household Treatment customers, 8-10 termite monitors around each building.  In 90 days, we will check each monitor, and report to you the location of any monitors that have termite activity.  This will help show you, if and where you may have termite activity close to your foundation making your home a high risk account.

This helpful tool is available to you at Collier Pest Control!  Call today to schedule a FREE termite inspection of your home or business.  Don't let unwanted guest spoil your beautiful Southwest Florida lifestyle.  Remember, Florida does not have to be shared with insects!

MORE TERMITE INFORMATION:

The control of subterranean termites is often a major expense and like any other household expense should be carefully considered. As you have read above that termite's eat very slowly.  Do not rush into an agreement with any firm before you thoroughly investigate what is offered.  Subterranean Termites, as the name suggests, live in the soil, in most cases.  In some cases, when there is adequate moisture available within the home, they will "nest" in the home and not return to the colony located in the soil. The subterranean termite is an important part of our environment.  In a natural setting, this termite recycles dead trees back into the soil. Without the termite, our forests would be littered with dead trees as wood "rot" cannot keep up.  No one has been able to convince the termite that "dead" wood in your home should not be eaten.  The termite sees the wood in your home as just another food source.  The main portion of the colony stays in the ground and the workers, (cream colored & wingless), come into the home through "mud" tubes or cracks in the concrete as small as 1/64 of an inch.  Once inside, they will eat the wood and bring it back to their nest mates in the ground.

During the spring of each year, the termites produce a winged alate (Swarmers).  The purpose of the swarmers is to fly up into the air, find the opposite sex, mate, and start new colonies.   Both the male and the female break off their wings and look for a suitable nesting area.  In the forest, this would be a dead, damp decaying tree on the forest floor.  When they swarm into the home, in most cases, they cannot damage the home, or start a nest as the area is much too dry. So unless you have a wet, rotten log in your living room, the alates cannot hurt you.   Our experience has shown that there are normally three swarms.  The first swarm is the major one, the second swarm is often 1/10th in size, and the last swarm is normally just a few insects.  Subterranean termites normally avoid light.  When swarmers are created by the colony, the opposite happens.  The swarmers are attracted to light when they emerge, and are often found in window sills.   As they come out in large numbers, they can be an awful nuisance.  Try not to spray them with common household insecticides, as these products contain oils that can stain and make a mess.  The easiest way to remove these alates is to vacuum them up.  They will die shortly in the dry environment of the vacuum bag.  Often, these swarmers will emerge within 30-60- days AFTER A HOME HAS BEEN TREATED. This is a defensive measure by the colony.  The colony is under stress from the treatment and will often respond by sending the remaining swarmers out.

If you have not had your home or business inspected for termites within the last year or longer, call, 239-455-4300, for a FREE TERMITE INSECTION to ease your mind of the fear of a termite infestation. Look us up on our web site at collierpestcontrol.com for further information on our inspections or any of our services.  Remember Florida does not have to be shared with insects.

FLIES HOUSE FLIES COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES AND SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

HOUSE FLIES

Collier Pest Control is Southwest Florida's Pest Authority, including the common House Fly.  The House Fly is of the most common of all insects.  It is worldwide in distribution and is a pest in homes, barns, poultry houses, food processing plants, dairies, and recreation areas. The House Fly has a tremendous breeding potential all year in Florida and can produce a generation in less than 2 weeks. House Fly eggs can be laid in almost any type of warm organic material, such as fermenting vegetation, manure, or garbage. House Fly eggs hatch within 24 hours into tiny larva called maggots. In 3 to 6 day these maggots migrate to drier areas and cocoon themselves just like a butterfly.  A House Fly can complete its life cycle, (egg, larva, pupa, and adult) in Florida in 6 to 10 days, living a life span of about 30 days.

House Flies digest their food outside their bodies. They excrete a fluid on their food to digest it and then draw this fluid, with the digested food, up through their sponging sucking mouth part.  This is why House Flies can vector or spread diseases such as dysentery and diarrhea.  Flies can be a problem here in Southwest Florida all year round, but the strongest activity is from May through July.

Collier Pest Control has many ways to help you combat flies and their annoying problems.  We have put together some items that can offer help with continuing fly problems.  First, try to eliminate excess food sources such as open garbage cans, unused pet food, excess pet excrement, open drain covers, broken sprinkler heads, uncleaned mops and brooms.   Eliminate any item a fly could use as food.  Second, repair or correct all openings to your home or business a fly could enter such as broken screens, open doors, non sealing weather stripping, and open construction cracks in the building.  Finally, Collier Pest Control can assist you in mechanical fly control.  We can provide you with fly bait for quick easy control, electronic fly traps for inside or outside control, thorough broadcast treatment of insect controlling materials to help give you a quick control, and expert assistance from manufacturers, distributors, and educators.

Call Collier Pest Control today for a free estimate and a complete explanation on any of our services.  Don't let unwanted guests spoil your beautiful Southwest Florida lifestyle.  Remember, Florida does not have to be shared with insects!

ROACHES GERMAN COCKROACHES COLLIER PEST CONTROL SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

GERMAN ROACHES

Collier Pest Control is your Southwest Florida Pest Authority including the German Cockroaches.   The German Roach is the most common household insect pest found in the United States.  They are usually found infesting in food preparation areas, kitchens, and bathrooms.   In severe infestations, they have the capability of living in any portion of a heated structure.  They favor warm, humid atmospheres where temperatures are around 70 to 75 degrees.  The German Roach is most active at night and hides in secluded areas such as cupboards, behind cabinets, wall voids, and motor housings of appliances.

The adult German Roach is about 1/2 inch long, brown, and has two dark longitudinal bands or streaks on the top the thorax (just behind the head).   German Roaches are regularly carried from place to place in such things as bagged potatoes, onion bags, beverage cartons, grocery bags, handbags, and in the folds of clothing.

The German Roach has the highest reproductive potential of all common pest cockroaches.  Female German Roaches produce about 30 to 50 eggs at a time.  The eggs are contained in a capsule with is attached to the tip of the abdomen and carried throughout most of the incubation period.  The eggs hatch in about 28 days at room temperature, and reach maturity in 40 to 125 days.  Adult female German Roaches live about 200 days producing 6 to 8 egg capsules or 180 to 400 eggs.

Sanitation is the cornerstone to effective and long lasting German Roach control.  Accessible water and food material must be eliminated as much as possible. Hiding, harborage areas need to be sealed off where possible.  Remove hiding areas like open trashcans, old newspapers, rag piles, unused grocery bags, unused boxes, excess grease and food around appliances, and any place a roach could hide or eat.

Collier Pest Control can control regular infestations of German Roaches with our "Collier Complete" pest control service.  If the infestation is severe, we must apply our thorough German Roach Treatment to all parts of your home.  Both services treat the cracks and crevices inside your home as well as the perimeter, mulch beds, soffits, eaves, and entryways outside effectively and quickly.

PEST CONTROL INSECT METAMORPHOSIS NOTES COLLIER PEST CONTROL SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

INSECT METAMORPHOSIS

Definition of an Insect:

To be a true insect, it must have:

?         Three Body parts

?         Six Legs

?         Two Antenna

?         Two Pairs of wings.

Flies are an exception in that they have one pair of wings and one pair of modified wings called "haltres", which are balance organs.  If the ADULT insect does not have of the above structures, they are not insects.  For example: a Spider has only two body parts, and no wings, therefore, it is not an insect.

Complete Metamorphosis:

This is the most common growth process for insects.  There are four clearly defined different stages in a Complete Metamorphosis development, which are egg, larva, pupae, and adult.  Each stage has a completely different form, mouthpart, food source, and lives in different locations.  The egg stage is laid by the adult.  It hatches into a larvae form, sometimes commonly called a caterpillar.  The sole purpose of the larvae is to eat and prepare to incase itself into the next stage called the pupae, which looks much like a cocoon.  When in the pupae stage the insect completely re-organizes its body form and hatches into the adult.

Samples of the Complete Metamorphosis are moth, butterflies, flies, fleas, ant's bees and wasps.

Gradual Metamorphosis:

This is not a common as the complete metamorphosis.  There are many types of insects that do have the General Metamorphosis.  With the General Metamorphosis there are three distinct stages of development, which are the egg, nymph, and adult.  The eggs are laid by the adult.  The eggs emerge into the nymph stage that look similar to the adult but is not the same. Nymphs and adults may look different, but live and feed in the same places. They have the same mouthparts and eat the same food.   The nymph stage looks like an adult but is smaller, has no wings, and is not sexually mature.  The nymph stage has to molt several times to develop completely into an adult.  With each molt of the nymph the insect grows larger and more developed until it molts for the last time into an adult.

Samples of Gradual Metamorphosis are cockroaches, termites, grasshoppers, bedbugs, and earwigs.

Without Metamorphosis:

This is the least common form of development.  There are only two types of insects having Without Metamorphosis development.  There are three similar stages of the Without Metamorphosis development, which are the egg, an instaring stage, and adult. The eggs are laid by the adult.  The eggs emerge out as young looking adults.  The young grow up shedding their exoskeleton several times before reaching the adult stage.  The young and adults live in the same place, have the same mouthparts, and eat the same food.

Samples of Without Metamorphosis are silverfish and the firebrat.

FLEA SERVICES COLLIER PEST CONTROL SOUTHWEST FLORIDA

FLEA SERVICES

Collier Pest Control provides you with the latest technology and most effective method of flea control for you and your home.  Any home can become the home of fleas, especially if you have dogs or cats.  We can help you rid your home of fleas and problems they cause.  If your home has fleas the time has come to treat it professionally.

Collier Pest Control's specially trained technicians will treat all your flooring including the carpet, vinyl, and tile.  Fleas also infest your furniture; our flea service treatment includes the treatment of all your upholstered furniture.

Adult fleas spend almost all their time on the host and feed many times a day from the host.  On average, a female flea lays 15-20 eggs per day for the 10-14 days that she is fertile.  These female adult fleas lay eggs on the tops of your pet's hair.   As your pet rests or move through your home, these microscopic eggs drop onto the floor or furniture where they develop.  The first step toward an effective control of fleas is to break the life cycle, which is egg, larva, pupa, and adult.  Collier Pest Control's advanced method of flea treatment contains both an adult control material and a material to control the larva stage (a growth regulator) that never lets the flea develop into an adult.

To insure that new fleas do not re-enter your home, outdoor flea treatments are sometimes necessary when pets are allowed outside regularly.

Collier Pest Control has two separate and completely different methods of indoor flea treatments and an effective outdoor flea lawn service to conveniently meet your needs and lifestyle.  We have an indoor dry yearly treatment and a 90 day indoor and outdoor treatment.  Our thoroughly trained staff can explain to you the different flea services and help you choose which is best suited for your needs.

Collier Pest Control has the best on pet spray, free with every indoor flea treatment.  We treat all your fleas risk areas; the pet, the home, and the lawn.  No one can control fleas better or longer than Collier Pest Control.  Call, 239-455-4300, today and get an estimate and complete explanation on any of our services, or look us up on our web site at collierpestcontrol.com.  Don't let unwanted guests spoil your beautiful Southwest Florida lifestyle.  Remember, Florida does not have to be shared with insects.

ANGIE LIST MEMBERS SAY ABOUT COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES FLORIDA

WHAT ANGIE LIST MEMBERS SAY ABOUT
COLLIER PEST CONTROL

MEMBER #1

I have just completed a year of quarterly services from Collier Pest Control, and can very enthusiastically recommend them.  Our house was a model home, and so it had been open with a lot of traffic prior to purchase.  When we moved in, we discovered quite a few small issues with ants, spiders, and other insects.  Upon the discovery of a Black Widow spider, I called Collier Pest Control.  Since their first service call, we have been pest-free.  Their technicians have been on-time each time, and are always very friendly.  I'm always careful about giving a service provider access to my house, but their technicians have always been professional and respectful, as have been their office and scheduling personnel with whom I've spoken.  That, combined with their excellent results and guarantee to return anytime between quarterly service calls to resolve an issue (although it hasn't been necessary), makes them my continued top pick for pest control.  Plus, they make appointments for Saturday ? how can  you beat that?
Our home was thoroughly examined for pests and treated both in doors and out, all around the perimeter. This is an excellent company that I highly recommend.  Manny, our regular service man was prompt as always. He was very friendly and efficient.

MEMBER #2

They called me in advance to remind me of the appointment. He showed up right on time. Ward was very polite and friendly. He was here for about an hour and they are following up on Thursday. He did an excellent job and I would highly recommend him. Everything was very easy and efficient.

MEMBER #3

I have hired Collier Pest Control for nearly 5 years now to treat my home every 3 months from Florida bugs.  This is one of the most effcient, customer service oriented business' in all of Collier County and I wouldn't use anyone else.  Every 3 months the technician comes to our home, greets us with a professional friendly smile and properly sprays for bugs.  He is extremely knowledgable always making sure we are satisfied.  There is no odor after the spray process is completed and our home is pest free!  Every possible attention is paid to detail spraying outlets, nooks and crannies, where ever bugs might enter our home.  I am and have always been 100% satisfied!

FAIRY RING LAWN DAMAGE FUNGUS COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES FLORIDA

FAIRY RING FUNGUS

FAIRY RING:          Fairy Ring Fungus is difficult to control on all grasses.  Initially, the grass is stimulated and greens up in a circular pattern.  In a few weeks, the grass in these areas will begin to decline.  Mushrooms are often present in the areas affected.  Fertilizers and watering often help in the declining areas.

The elimination of most fungi can be prevented or controlled with traditional spraying or dusting.  To repeat, this is not a cure.  To prevent these fungi from appearing and damaging your turf, the turf must be sprayed before and not after the disease strikes.  It must be kept on the turf as constantly as possible for the period the disease period is likely to attack.

Collier Pest Control does not offer monthly or other scheduled turf maintenance programs.  Collier Pest Control does offer one time correction treatments for fungi and other turf damaging problems. If you have been told or suspect you may have a fungus problem in your lawn, call Collier Pest Control, 239-455-4300 for a Free Inspection or a complete explanation to any of our services.  You also can look us up on our web site at collierpestcontrol.com or Email us at info@collierpestcontrol.com.  Remember Florida does not have to be shared with insects.

SOD WEB WORMS LAWN DAMAGE COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES FLORIDA

NO PARTY FOR

TROPICAL SOD WEB WORMS

If you are seeing small white or dingy brown moths fling out of your lawn, or your lawn has developed grayish brown damaged areas 2 or 3 foot in diameter.  It is a good chance you may have Sod Web Worms.  Often, damage is first noticed along hedges or flower beds.

This is the most common caterpillar to attacking turfgrasses.  These moths attack all grasses but prefer Bermuda and least desire bahia.  During the day, the moths rest in shrubbery next to turf areas and at dusk, fly over the turf depositing eggs.  When these eggs hatch into larva, they do their damage on the turf, rasping the surface or skeletonize the blades.   As the larva mature, injured grass has notches are chewed along the sides of the blades or is eaten back evenly.  Damaged areas of your lawn become larger and fuse together.  Sod Web Worms are usually not a problem until June here in Beautiful Southwest Florida.

Don't what and see if your problem goes away and you lose your beautiful lawn to this tropical partier.  Let Collier Pest Control treat your lawn and eliminate those unwanted worms in just 2 visits, 7 to 10 days apart your Sod Web Worms will be gone.  Call 239-455-4300, today for a complete explanation on our Sod Web Worm treatment or any of our services, or look us up on line at collierpestcontrol.com.  Remember, Florida does not have to be shared with insects.

ANTS ODOROUS HOUSE ANT COLLIER PEST CONTROL NAPLES FLORIDA

ODOROUS HOUSE ANT

The Odorous House Ant is a common household pest distributed nearly throughout the U.S.  This brownish to black ant is frequently confused with the argentine ant but can be easily distinguished by its darker color and the fact that the front of its abdomen overhangs and hides its flat petiole or node.  The Odorous House Ant got its name from the fact that it gives off a very characteristic, pungent, and unpleasant coconut-like odor when crushed.

The Odorous House Ant colonies may be composed of several hundred or up to 100,000 ants with many queens.  Inside these ants usually construct their nests near moisture in wall voids especially around hot water pipes and heaters, around sinks, and cupboards.  Outside they are often found in the nest of larger ants, in exposed soil, but mostly under objects like: stacked lumber, firewood, bricks, rocks, stones, or pavers.  These ants prefer sweets but also eat live and dead insects and foods with high protein content and grease such as meat and cheese.

When disturbed the Odorous House Ants run around in an erratic manner with their gaster/abdomens raised up similar to the acrobatic ant.

Control of these ants is based mainly on the success of finding the nests outdoors.  Collier Pest Control's outdoor perimeter treatment is very successful in eliminating the Odorous House Ants as well as other problem invading pests.

Call, 239-455-4300, Collier Pest Control today for a full explanation of the Odorous House Ant or any of our services, or look us up on our web site at collierpestcontrol.com.  Don't let unwanted pests spoil your beautiful Southwest Florida's lifestyle.  Remember Florida does not have to be shared with insects.
